This means you can use it with your existing scope, eliminating the need to invest in a new one just to accommodate a camera.

Wireless Streaming
The wireless streaming feature of the HME Spot Shot is what truly sets it apart. It allows you to share the view through your scope with others in real time. This is especially valuable when you’re out in the field with a group of friends or family. You can all enjoy the view together without having to huddle around a single scope.

Tilting LCD Screen with Hood
The HME Spot Shot’s tilting LCD screen with a hood is a welcome feature, ensuring optimal visibility in various lighting conditions. The tilting screen allows you to adjust the viewing angle for maximum comfort. The hood helps to block out glare, reducing eye strain and improving the overall viewing experience.
Rechargeable LiPo Battery with Long Battery Life

What People Are Saying About the HME Spot Shot
I spent a good amount of time reading user reviews of the HME Spot Shot and found a lot of positive feedback, especially from those who value the convenience of sharing their spotting scope views. Many reviewers praised the camera’s ease of use, the long battery life, and the ability to connect to a variety of spotting scopes.
One user commented, “Pretty impressed with this. Nice picture quality and worked great to spot shots at the range and in the field. Setting it up, I was able to see radio towers clearly that were miles away. Could make out vehicles in the campground about 7 miles away. Fit on a cheap Amazon scope and on an Athlon I just picked up. I have let a couple buddies use this and they ended up buying one for themselves. Worked best on an iPad, not as well on my iPhone or on a Droid.”
However, there were also some negative comments, with several users reporting issues with the wireless connection and the app’s stability. A few users were disappointed with the image quality, finding it lacking for serious photography. One user said, “In spite of reading reviews with problems, I figured that surely after 2 years the product had been fixed. Wrong. I turned the camera on, and then connected to its built-in WiFi network with my phone. When you launch the app, the app crashes immediately if your phone is connected to the camera’s WiFi. The phone will only stay connected to the camera’s WiFi for about 60 seconds. Then it reverts back to my home network. If you launch the app then, it doesn’t crash, but then it can’t connect to the camera, either, of course. I called GSM at the tech support number given. Sat on hold for 30 minutes and was transferred to another help line. Sat on hold there for 30 minutes to be told that was the wrong line and I needed to call the number I called to start with. They transferred me back and I sat on hold there for another 20 minutes. Total time on the phone was an hour and twenty minutes with only about 5 minutes actually talking to a person trying to solve the problem. Finally talked to a person and all they could tell me is that they have not updated their app. I asked, “Ever?” and she said she didn’t know. I said, “Well, right now this product does not work. According to Amazon review, it has not worked for 2 years. When should I expect a fix?” She said, “I don’t know, maybe a couple of weeks.” Given how long it has been broken, I’m skeptical it will be fixed in “a couple of weeks”. So, this product is completely non-functional out of the box. I tried it with both Apple and Android devices. It’s a darn shame, because for the price point this is exactly the product I am looking for to enable seeing through my spotting scope without having to get up and look through it. I will be returning it. I’m very disappointed.”
My Final Thoughts on the HME Spot Shot
If you’re looking for a convenient and affordable way to share the views through your spotting scope, the HME Spot Shot is an excellent option. It offers a user-friendly experience, impressive battery life, and compatibility with a wide range of scopes. While the image quality might not be top-notch for professional photographers, it’s suitable for most casual users.
The wireless connection and the app’s stability can be a bit of a drawback, and some users have reported issues with the app’s functionality. However, for those seeking a reasonably priced, reliable way to connect their spotting scope to their smartphone, the HME Spot Shot is a great choice. If you’re looking for a higher-quality camera with advanced features and superior image quality, you might want to consider a more specialized spotting scope camera.
